but I couldn't look at a ribosome structure and easily figure out what it meant, because I don't know very much about ribosomes.

Comment Disaster strikes (Score 1) 262

Whatever disaster that hits Earth/human population will have to wipe out at least 99.9999999% of us, otherwise the population will recover. Killing more than that would mean that there is a risk that the survivors won't find each other and have sex. I find it hard to conceive of such an event that does not also wipe out all of life on Earth. We are remarkably wide-spread and adaptable - we evolved to be that way.
