Journal Journal: Lessig's Challenge

I've decided to take up Lessig's Challenge.

I will start out by cancelling my AOL account and donating the money I would have spent on AOL for one year to the EFF. That comes out to $19.95/month times 12 months = $234.90. Gonna call AOL now and tell them I'm cancelling my account...then I'll let them know why I'm cancelling the account and where the money will be going.

I'll post the results and response of that call later today.

I'm in with Eric Albert and Luke Francl. Who else?

Journal Journal: On the matter of bombers

I quote from RC Warships' Naval War College on the cost estimate for building a teeny tiny remote controlled bomber:

"My B-25 Mitchell bomber set me back $120 for the wood kit alone. The engines added another $220. At the point I stopped construction (because I convinced myself I would trash it after I smacked my trainer into the ground...), I had $670 invested, which included a 6 channel radio. I could easily have finished it for under $800, but that would be for a bomber that DIDN'T DROP BOMBS." Why can't the Pentagon build a bomber that doesn't drop bombs for $800?

Journal Journal: On the Matter of Squirrels

I think it's really sad that /. is having Groups of Orange Squirrels prepare my /. pages for me when the US squirrel population is being decimated by West Nile Virus.

Anyway...I'm off to enjoy my sadness.
