Submission + - Gmail Experiences Vowel Outage (blogspot.com) 1

HamSammy writes: "After a great uptime record since last year's outage, Google's mail service, Gmail, has been struck with a widespread vowel outage. The main symptom of the outage is an alphabet availability of 80.8%, caused by the widespread lack of the characters "a", "e", "i", "o", and "u" in text on the site, though the effect on "y" in still unknown. The cause of the outage, according to Gmail's Engineering Director, Sam Schillace, has been identified, and vowels are slowly being re-introduced to the service."
