According to Y!, the Astronomer Cooke, who proclaimed the Leonids would be spectacular, isn't being followed by most astronomers. Instead, they are following an Australian Duo McNaught and Asher, who, originally, anticipated 2500 meteors per hour in the US and 15000 in Australia, now they are predicting 800 per hour in the US, 8000 in Australia. This significantly affects viewing of it (which has already started, but peaks saturday night). This is kinda a bummer, seeing all the hype its generated. I was planning on watching, and still may, but lowering my expectations (its easier to expect less and be surprised, than to expect a lot and be disappointed).
