Submission + - TSA: Nailclippers are more dangerous than guns. ( 1

HungryHobo writes: When faced with hundreds of soldiers on a military charter carrying assault rifles, pistols and machine guns the TSA personnel decided that while all the guns weren't dangerous the nail clippers one soldier was carrying needed to be confiscated in case he used them to take over the plane.

"approximately 233 people re-boarded that plane with assault rifles, pistols, and machine guns–but nothing that could have been used as a weapon."

Submission + - Amazon Denies Skynet's Involvement In AWS Outage (

An anonymous reader writes: Amazon has officially denied that the recent outage of its EC2 and Elastic Block Storage cloud platforms was the result of an attack from Cyberdyne Systems' Skynet sentient computer system, declaring humanity safe after all. "From the information I have and to answer your questions," a spokesperson explained, "Skynet did not have anything to do with the service event at this time."

4chan Declares War On Snow Screenshot-sm 201

With all the recent hacktivism in the news, Anonymous has decided to take on a new and powerful enemy: snow. On Sunday the group announced that it will "do everything in its power to shut snow down by attacking the Weather Channel and North Face websites, boycotting outerwear, and voting for the sun as Time’s 2010 Person Of The Year." I'm sure there are a lot of people in Minneapolis right now that would wish them luck.

Submission + - Minecraft, Christian game for secular gamers (

surveyork writes: Kyle Goldman at (a born-again Christian site) does a review of Minecraft, which he claims is a Christian game to teach Christian values to non-believers.

An excerpt from the page:

To reach the Secular gamers who would never play an explicitly Christian game, Minecraft needs to be subtle and non-threatening, teaching Christian values without scaring off those whose hearts have been hardened by years of anti-Christian conditioning. Still, there are clues to the Christian purpose of the game. The most obvious is the name: Minecraft Alpha. This is of course a reference to Jesus' revelation that He is the Alpha and the Omega (Rev. 22:13). Also, the only animals in the game you can kill for food are pigs. This emphasizes the New Covenant with Jesus where we can now eat delicious ham — a common ground we share with most Secularized people.

Submission + - Newspaper Endorses Same Candidate It's Suing (

An anonymous reader writes: Remember Righthaven? The copyright troll owned by the owner of the Las Vegas Review-Journal? You may remember, then, that Righthaven had sued Nevada Senate candidate Sharron Angle for posting LVRJ stories on her site. At the same time, LVRJ has been having its execs talk about how copyright infringement is no different than garden variety theft. So... doesn't it seem a bit odd that the LVRJ is endorsing the very same candidate that it sued for such "theft"?

Submission + - US nutter builds 350mph jet-powered school bus

oxide7 writes: Paul Stender and a team of engineers from the Indianapolis-based IndyBoys Inc fitted the yellow school bus with a jet engine from a Phantom fighter plane, allowing it to reach a frankly dangerous 367mph. That's 100mph more than the fastest car on the planet, the Bugatti Veyron Super Sports. All its seats, bar three, have been stripped out to decrease weight and improve the amount of usable power from its 42,000hp General Electric J-79 jet engine mounted at the rear.
