These power and performance numbers finally match what Intel promised to deliver with Atom in 2008, and it took ARM and AMD kicking Atom squaw in the competitive nuts to get them to deliver. This does not bode well for Chipzilla.

The only public event featuring Windows 8 so far was the Build conference in September, and all demo ARM devices were kept under glass with a strict no touch policy. The fact is that no one who isn't bound under NDA has actually touched an ARM powered Windows 8 device.

WebOS has proven itself capable of running well on ARM based silicon. Considering certain other OS vendors won't even let you touch a device running on ARM yet I think WebOS is worth more than most people suspect. It is a shame that the one of the few PROVEN iOS alternatives is already experiencing bitrot thanks to HP.

There are plenty of bridge boards available that will accept a half-height x16 PCIe card and plug into a 32-bit PCI slot. The PLX PEX8112 bridge chip makes this type of bridge card fairly cheap to produce. I think I paid approximately 34 USD for one earlier this year that works well with a Radeon 6450 for multimedia applications.

T-Mobile is still a buyout target, and at this point I think Google or Microsoft could pick them up for less than AT&T offered. Since T-Mobile is more Android friendly than WP7 I think Google would be a more likely suitor.

How many web enabled gadgets go obsolete every time a browser is deprecated? Without community support for firmware upgrades nettops, PDAs, and content streamers go obsolete far too quickly given the amount of energy and natural resources consumed by their production, IMHO.

They should bring back the free battery card club cards, except with more eco-friendly rechargeable batteries. That way they can upsell the the recharging units.
