the real difference? a battered wife doesn't bring in the ratings the way the zimmerman trial did. and fwiw all 6 jurors were women and they felt like the law required them to vote not guilty.

my life wasn't perfect but i pretty much got by with excuses and moving a lot. at least some of my darker moods are almost completely gone. i have a pretty easy life now. only complicated when i make it that way. i have actually had time to do a lot of things that i used to be too busy gaming etc to do. because i am a weekend gamer now, i tried no video games, but without a broad circle of friends it is hard ti find things to do, that i enjoy doing.

The thing is the iPad OS isn't called Mac OSX, it's called iOS, so no one has an expectation that it can run Mac apps.

The thing is people have the expectation that a Microsoft device running Windows will run with all their Windows apps. Then they discover that no, this version of Windows won't run your Windows apps. So the perceptions are "all the disadvantages of a PC and all the disadvantages of a tablet, but none of the advantages" Microsoft should have called the tablet/phone OS something else - the "Windows" trademark has probably serious negative value on a handheld and calling it Windows is actually holding it back.

Imagine if they had called the XBox "Windows" too. It would probably have been just an also-ran.

The other problem is Microsoft's dogged insistence on calling the tablet OS Windows, when it can't actually run any PC applications. People buy it thinking it'll run their normal applications, discover it can't, and never buy another Windows handheld device again. Apple for instance didn't call the iPhone the Mac Phone or the operating system Mac OSX, they gave it a new name and therefore no one ever thinks an iPhone runs Mac apps.

Which computer?

I mean, should I cumulate it all? My laptop has 16GB, my desktop has 16GB, my Xeon server has 16GB and my self-built server has 16GB, my wifes iMac has 16GB (you see a trend there, 16GB is currently the sweet spot). That's just those I'm thinking of right now, I have at least half a dozen more....

My first computer was a 486DX/2-66 laptop with 320MB HDD (I think, that might have been the second one. Anybody also had a Highscreen Colani Bluenote?) and 4MB RAM. The first computer I was exposed to had a whopping 1MB RAM. Back then 256KB and 512KB were quite current.

Submission + - VLC For iOS Returns On July 19, Rewritten And Fully Open-Sourced

An anonymous reader writes: VideoLAN revealed some very exciting news today: VLC for iOS will be back in Apple's App Store by tomorrow (July 19). The company tells TNW the app will be available for free worldwide, requires iOS 5.1 or later, as well supports the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

As you can expect, VLC for iOS version 2.0 will be open-source. This time, however, its code will be available online (also by tomorrow), bi-licensed under both the Mozilla Public License Version 2 as well as the GNU General Public License Version 2 or later.
