1. You need 2-3 years experience. Join the USAF. Low end jobs. Self driven project. Probably doesn't matter but you need to show a solid 2-3 years in something. 2. Go to school even if you don't plan on a degree. That will reflect well on you that you are pursuing education. 3. Be grateful for any tech job at the beginning of your career. They won't fit what you want to do but showing consistency and excellence in those jobs will look good. 4. Be willing to relocate to areas that aren't so saturated or just have more tech openings. 5. Learn to interview. Takes practice. Good luck.

This sounds like a great idea. We could call this system "Social Security."

And keep it separate from the general fund, and never borrow against it, and pay out only what is brought in, and allow those who pass on early to give their pension to their children. And best but not last put the entire cost of the fund on the pay check so employees know how much it costs for them to be employed. Wouldn't that be a great program?

Submission + - Sony official statement regarding PS3 hacking (

tekgoblin writes: Sony has stepped up it's stance on anyone circumventing protection of any kind on the PlayStation 3 and released a statement today. Most recently Sony had barred George Hotz (Geohot) from releasing any more information about the console what soever. Now, Sony has their eyes set on other users that may be trying to use pirated software or modded PlayStation consoles on their network. The statement reads:

Notice: Unauthorized circumvention devices for the PlayStation 3 system have been recently released by hackers. These devices permit the use of unauthorized or pirated software. Use of such devices or software violates the terms of the “System Software License Agreement for the PlayStation 3 System” and the “Terms of Services and User Agreement” for the PlayStation Network/Qriocity and its Community Code of Conduct provisions. Violation of the System Software Licence Agreement for the PlayStation 3 System invalidates the consumer guarantee for that system. In addition, copying or playing pirated software is a violation of International Copyright Laws. Consumers using circumvention devices or running unauthorized or pirated software will have access to the PlayStation Network and access to Qriocity services through PlayStation 3 system terminated permanently.

This is good to know. I got MPC to attempt to get more GPU usage ( 4850 crossfirex ) and was able to get something watch-able but MPC has a problem keeping the audio in sync. VLC keeps the audio in sync but it drops frames like crazy. Some lags are in the seconds. I only have quad AMD running at 2.8Ghz. Just can't find the perfect combo of software / hardware to get that perfect smooth playback. Maybe I should buy a software player. Any suggestions? I have my cards configured in crossfire and turned on theater mode I don't know if that is causing me any issues. I don't think so because MPC can do smooth video. 30G over 2h 40M is a decent amount of data. The sound doesn't typically freak though so I don't know if HD speed is a problem or not.

I bought the combo bluray with dvd disk. Which was fine but I don't have a bluray player so a quick google search there is the torrent of the bluray dump available day of release. Stupid. So I downloaded the disk I bought over the next 3 days. I guess I broke the law but the drm was nicely removed. Now if only computers could playback 1080P without choking on their own spit.

Funeral Being Held Today For IE6 194

An anonymous reader writes "More than 100 people, many of them dressed in black, are expected to gather around a coffin Thursday to say goodbye to an old friend. The deceased? Internet Explorer 6. The aging Web browser, survived by its descendants Internet Explorer 7 and Internet Explorer 8, is being eulogized at a tongue-in-cheek 'funeral' hosted by Aten Design Group, a design firm in Denver, Colorado."
