isoscelated writes: I live in Hunterdon County NJ where officials want to build a $10M biodiesel conversion plant from a small German company called Alphakat, which uses some kind of secret technology to turn trash into biodiesel. I'm afraid this company is selling us the Brooklyn Bridge. Does anyone know if this technology really works? It just sounds too good to be true...

greenfield writes: "Mike Tedesco from Microsoft's Pro Photo group has posted the first part of a writeup of the technology used by Sports Illustrated at the Final Four. It's pretty cool technology. Over 30 laptops are hardwired using almost a mile of Ethernet cable. A single photographer is able to trigger multiple cameras at once and have the images transmitted to a server within seconds. It's also worth rereading the Rob Galbraith article of a few years ago (previously linked by Slashdot). Disclaimer: I wrote several pieces of software used by SI at the Final Four."

Why doesn't Apple let people know if their gift of an iTunes song doesn't arrive at it's intended destination? If I place a cell phone call and it doesn't connect, I don't get charged. If I mail a letter, the post office will return undelivered mail to sender.

And is this 5 mil dollar amount correct in this quote from story?

On March 25, 2004, Amber and Jeremy took digital photos of themselves naked and engaged in unspecified "sexual behavior." The two sent the photos from a computer at Amber's house to Jeremy's personal e-mail address. Neither teen showed the photographs to anyone else.

He started working on a prototype of Quantum Satellite Technology, a line of $325 to $350 adult sneakers that hit shelves next month. It promises to locate the wearer anywhere in the world with the press of a button. A children's line will be out this summer.
