Comment Thinking of just saying "FY, FB" (Score 1) 114

especially with their most recent round of egregious bullshit, but does anyone actually use Buzz? I was messing around with it earlier today, and it seems a lot less annoying than Facebook; I just don't think I know ANYONE that uses it. Maybe it's just still too new? It's hard to say, but the way FB does things is getting more ridiculous all the time.

Wii 2 Delay Is Hurting Nintendo 310

BanjoTed writes "Michael Pachter's ongoing spat with Nintendo regarding the Wii 2 is well documented. Pachter is sure it's coming, Nintendo says it's not. Now the analyst has gone one further by claiming that the declining sales of the Wii documented in the platform holder's recent financial statements will only get worse unless it speeds up attempts to get its successor to market. He said, 'The reason for this is clear: the software being created is just not interesting enough or compelling enough to drive Wii owners to buy more than two [games] per year, and most of those purchases are first party software. We can blame the third party publishers for making shovelware, or for misjudging the Wii market, but the simple fact is that the publishers have to develop completely separate games for the Wii because its CPU is not powerful.'"

Apple Orders 10 Million Tablets? 221

Arvisp writes "According to a blog post by former Google China president Kai-Fu Lee, Apple plans to produce nearly 10 million tablets in the still-unannounced product's first year. If Lee's blog post is to be believed, Apple plans to sell nearly twice as many tablets as it did iPhones in the product's first year."

That's not the "medicine" part, that's hand holding.

It's usually called bedside manner, and it's very important to a very large number of people. To some people, it's the most important quality they look for in a doctor (especially parents looking for a pediatrician). Getting defensive and being a dick about it won't change that and doesn't really contribute to the discussion at all, and I'm a bit surprised that your comment was modded Interesting (which you usually are, but not this time). Retorting with one-word answers is pretty lame, especially for someone who needs to make compelling arguments on a regular basis in his line of work. You might just be taking the "lawyers and patients" snip a bit too much to heart.

You missed the part where the poster logs IPs. If a hiring manager goes looking into shit that has no relevance to the position applied for, and then uses that as a basis for not hiring someone, then the employer is guilty of discrimination. Not that I'd expect a corporate suit to understand that.

All they have to say is that they didn't hire you based on

This is an excellent example of how employers circumvent discrimination laws. "No, it wasn't discrimination, it was...er...some other reason. Honest!" Thanks for that.
