Submission + - Swedish startup brings NASA tech to mobile devices (gigaom.com)

Oooskar writes: GigaOM writes about a Swedish startup, 13th Lab, that has implemented a complex computer vision technique known as SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) on consumer mobile devices. SLAM is a system developed in part by NASA for use in robotics, which allows an object (like, say, a drone) to look around, in real-time build up a 3D map of the environment and then understand where it is (video).
13th Lab aims make this technology available as a platform for developers to use. A first application on this platform, Ball Invasion, is available for the iPad2 (video).
