Submission + - antivirus client for linux (in-egypt.net)

marafa writes: my local security officer has obtained a copy of symantec antivirus client for linux. he wishes to incorporate my linux desktop and servers into the symantec antivirus server corporate edition sphere of influence.

while formal word has not been handed down to me to allow him to install this disgusting thing on my linux boxes, i would like to be prepared to object against such an action.

i have done some research and come up with only 2 points:
1. liveupdate and the engine works as root (and sits in the taskbar as root)
2. there have previously been vulnerabilities in this program

during my research i could not find the total number of actual virii (not vulnerabilities in programs) that could infect a normal linux box.

i am asking slashdot to help me forestall the installation of a suspect program that will "protect" my boxes.
