You have 31.5 inches that'll be practically as much vertical space as a 30 inch 16:10 monitor and 2160 vertical pixels to work with, but it's unusable... fine by me, pass it this way ;)

And don't forget the advanced adaptive screening rate through combinatorial probabilistics with both parallell and serial execution methods. You can also implement multiple selection criteria at once, subselecting some passengers to even more intensive screening methods. Though for expediency I'd recommend the d20.system instead.

My TV box has HDMI out, my video camera has HDMI out, my surround receiver has HDMI in/out for pass-through, in fact the only places I can find DisplayPort is on graphics cards and screens mostly intended as monitors, not TVs. HDMI version 2.0 with 4K/UltraHD @ 60Hz support should be out any day now (it was scheduled for first half of 2013, apparently a little late) and unless they completely break backwards compatibility I think that's what everything will use. So unless you really want 4K right now(tm) even though content is extremely rare except stills I'd wait a few more months.

When you put generators down 5-6000 feet in deep fast ocean currents, which run virtually at constant speed year round, the amount of power available down there is staggering. Obviously it only works near coastline regions, but that is where the large populations tend to be, though not all coasts have deep water currents.

Superconducting long distance transmission lines are improving in capability, so maybe distance is not so much a problem in the future.

Oh, oh I know the answer to this one. What the private companies are (or rather aren't) offering is the best anyone can do under normal, fair market conditions. So if the government can do it, it's because the government is awarding it indirect subsidies and siphoning off costs to be paid with taxpayer money in some unamerican commie conspiracy to destroy private enterprise and replace it with a protectionist government monopoly. Honestly, for some it's so deeply rooted in them that if the government appears to be doing anything at all better than private companies then they must be cheating somehow.

If you didn't know the time scale had been messed with, the video looks like very thick oil or honey dripping. Some sort of invariant with liquids, I suppose. I thought it was kind of interesting.

I've done time-lapse videos of clouds and things. Haven't done one of paint drying or grass growing.

Exactness would require too many options, you'd need 2^7, personally I'd need 2^18 and another comment here was 2^24 - all 25 from 2^0 and maybe beyond would be right for some. I think there's a limit of seven-eight poll options, so you'd have to do approximations anyway. I went with 100000, too bad I didn't go for an 8x8GB X79 board or I could have picked the real dinosaur option.

If bombs in parked cars were an actual concern, they'd be using trained and skilled personnel in order to search them. You think a parking lot attendant is going to check underneath the car, or under the hood, or in the trunk, or in the wheel wells, or behind the dash, or any of the other places in a car where substantial quantities of explosive can be concealed from view?

  No. Of course not. At best he's going to check under the seats and steal your loose change. This should let intelligent people know that there are two possibilities here:

1. Bombs in parked cars at short-term valet-parked lots are not a serious security threat.
2. The TSA is criminally incompetent and that useless titsuck of a government agency should be sequestered with extreme prejudice.
