taxation is in no way government theft. Ghandi wrote that if you oppose a thing, do not participate. Have fun with your privatized fire departments. Oh wait, fire depts are run by volunteers. I guess volunteering is against your damned political agenda, too. It all boils down into misguided selfishness - you have no idea what it takes to make you stay alive. And that's why america is great; you don't have to. lucky for you.

In other words, a dangerously immoral people looking to a single person as justification; a cult.

So there.

What does the number of cores have to do with a "good, strong" GPU, or a lag of the UI? Lag is usually interrupt-based (think network or disk access), or the result of software, when operations are poorly ordered and/or uncached lookups perform often.. therefore your benchmark has a rabbit with a pancake on it's head -

Read the linked comment about XP. On his setup of "two 90/hr contractors"

*very* good coders routinely spend forever on simple issues, spending the
the night working to find things that were almost proofreading in nature. Not
the way I want to time spent. The second coder can help keep the
first developer sane in approach,, focused, and with a venue to verbalize approaches,
not least of which is because only when you teach a thing, can you possibly
claim to have written quality code.

Not needed you say? Okay, can you find the error i made in the paragraph
above? (I'm not joking, start a timer, how long did it take you to find? It's
there!). Why should a project stall for half a day because of something
like that, something that doesn't take big brains, but a perspective that is
merely different? BTW, try not to post the answer below, so others can have fun;
the point is that having two people write code together can be really,
really effective so long as a chain of command is established and respected,
not to mention an amazing way to develop talent in-house!

Also, I am sure that a SSD would make my computer load programs faster, but I do not close them all that often. I have firefox running all the time (and restart it when it starts using too much memory or becomes too slow, maybe once every few days), same with other stuff, except games of course, but games do not take long to load either (especially compared to play time).

so you've adapted to the computers lack of speed by changing your behavior. Commendable! when i'm coding, not having the 10 sec lag while it spins up and does a grep means 10 seconds less i have to remember something while i work.

Humans have limited short term memory and anything that can allow a human to process within that short term memory horizon is going to confer a big advantages.. i wish people realized that that specific ability to buffer is quite variable and should not be relied upon, when saying a system is "good enough". Good enough for you, maybe, on a good day, when you were on lots of caffeine and young. I say the computer revolution is about *maxmizing my intellect*, and SSD's do that by working close to the speed of my thoughts. Which is why i love them /end rant :)

Yes it hurt the image, but only a jackass would associate the two in any thing but the loosest sense. Fuck off.
