Net worth includes possessions, house, savings for retirement, etc. Also, take the aging one-percenters (or the 0.1%) out of the numbers (or use median instead of mean) and I bet the disparity growth is a lot flatter. Fundamentally, there's a difference b/t being well off because you worked hard all your life and being well off because you (1) owned the means of productions, (2) bought off legislators, and (3) found a way to exploit others.

In 1995, NSA added a single bit-rotation to SHA that made it considerably stronger, but they didn't explain their reasoning at the time. It took several more years before academia found significance weaknesses, with 2004 being the year that SHA-0 (as the original, non-rotated version is now called) was really cracked wide open. That (arguably) puts them about a decade ahead (in a situation where they willingly tipped their hand). These folks employee the most math PhD's in the world and have their own chip fabs... it's not hard to imagine them being two decades ahead on some important cryptographic questions.

Heh. I'm using my mac mini (to type this comment) with a "Windows" keyboard and mouse. Which many people to find more functional than the apple thin, no spaces stuff. Then again, apple keyboard functional is quite lacking.

I'm tempted to get an ipad (after i get a job and have the money to purchase it), but every time i pick up one of these pad devices, i find myself at a loss for how to use it. It's like it's the exact opposite of a functional device, instead being flashy and smooth, and whatever.

So why do i want an ipad? Well, it's a nice computer to run those nifty apps, and is more convenient than a laptop.

I'm a long-time Google Apps user, and my company's domain is on all mail receipents' mail, not "gmail.com". So how can you have implied consent when the sender doesn't know that the mail is being sent through Google?

Because Ctrl-Alt-Delete is non-interruptible. This way one could be sure it was truly the login screen and not something impersonating the login screen. At least, that's how I remember it. Could be urban legend.

As far as I know there is nothing special about low PIDs. They get assigned sequentially. For more detail, see the wikipedia article. Now, if you didn't install it, then I'd be worried. I can't say for the latest versions, but on my 12.04 LTS (work laptop), this is what I get when grepping processes on the string "tor".

The change on slashdot was well received according to the poll asking about it. The one choice, Cowboy Neal, which was explained to mean "yes", was the overwhelming choice by voters. The change is expected to make it easier on new users.
