Obama sealed his victory based on public declarations from delegates as well as from an additional 18 who had confirmed their intentions to the AP. The count also included five delegates Obama was guaranteed as long as he gained 15 percent of the vote in South Dakota and Montana later in the day. It takes 2,118 delegates to clinch the nomination.

The current delegate count according to CNN.com is 2,097 to 1,914."

By your logic, were I to acquire your credit card and purchase items, I am not committing theft because i never actually
took anything from you and never intended to permanently deprive you of the use of any property.

That's correct... unless you had physically stolen my credit card (versus just getting a hold of my number somehow) then it's not theft. It's fraud.
