Submission + - OLPC To be a 75$ Android Tablet (cnn.com)
Syberz writes: The original One Laptop Per Child project was a noble endeavor which wasn't without its flaws. One good thing that came out of the original project was feedback about its shortcomings: movable parts that broke, cost, latin only alphabet keyboard, etc. To curb these issues, Nicolas Negroponte says that the next version will be a tablet running the Android OS: "The new tablets will have at least one, and maybe two, video cameras. They'll sport Wi-Fi connections to the Internet, multi-touch screens and have enough power to play high-definition and 3-D video. Unlike Apple Inc.'s iPad tablet, the device will also work with plug-in peripherals such as mice and keyboards."
On paper this sounds like a very interesting device, especially considering the cost of the alternatives.
