US citizens' rights to property and free enterprise are under attack again. From TFA:

"For approximately six hours they took all the gold, all the silver, all the
platinum and almost two tons of Ron Paul Dollars that where just delivered last
Friday. They also took all the files, all the computers and froze our bank
accounts. ...all the gold and silver that backs up the paper
certificates and digital currency held in the vault at Sunshine Mint has also
been confiscated. Even the dies for mint the Gold and Silver Libertys have been
taken.

This in spite of the fact that Edmond C. Moy, the Director of the Mint,
acknowledged in a letter to a US Senator that the paper certificates did not
violate Section 486 and were not illegal. But the FBI and Services took all the
paper currency too."

To put this into perspective Giuliani, who is the presumed Republican front runner, only raised 11 million for the entire last quarter. The goal of the revolution was to set off the money "bomb" that showered the campaign with over $1,000,000 in just a few hours. The revolution got the November 5th date idea from Guy Fawkes. Is this the first revolution organized and carried out online? You know you live in the 21st century when you can take part in a revolution without leaving your oh so comfortable computer chair.

Think about an installer that allows you to install and uninstall Linux as any other application. An installer that does not require you to burn an ISO, that does not change your partitions, that does not change your bootloader, and still gives you a normal dual-boot setup, with full hardware access. Impossible? Enter Wubi. Wubi sits between a demo and a full installation, bringing you the best of both words. It works like a real installation but it is easy and safe to install and remove like a demo. Wubi was born as an independent (GPL) project, but it will become an official Ubuntu installer in Gutsy. Caveat: it is still in beta.

neaty350 writes: As someone who employs large teams of IT folk, I'm often frustrated when good female team members leave for family pressures (kids) and other similar reasons. A mob in Australia (http://www.justbe.com.au) have come up with a good idea and launched a site in the past few days that not only focuses on jobs for women, but also has a bunch of stuff in there about career support, tips and advice for women. As a guy, this stuff didn't really register for me, but female co-workers think its a good idea. Is this a sign of things to come — career diversity sites?

gbridge writes: The Times is reporting that diabetics have been able to stop taking insulin injections after being given drugs to suppress their immune systems, and having transfusions of stem cells drawn from their own blood. The trial on fifteen patients resulted in all but two volunteers not needing insulin injections some time after treatment; eleven immediately following the infusion of stem cells, two 12 and 20 months after the procedure. One patient went 12 months without shots, but relapsed a year after treatment after suffering a viral infection, and another volunteer was eliminated from the study because of complications. Encouraging results but more trials are clearly required, with London perhaps conducting research into the therapy within the next 12 months if funding can be found.
