Comment Over protective parents much? (Score 1) 538

To all the people talking about model release forms and all. Watch the videos in the article. The principal specifically says the parents opt-in to their children being recorded on video. Honestly. If my daughter was in a video like this. I'd laugh for 10 minutes straight and thank the guy for giving me a good laugh. As long as she wasn't exposed to the lyrics, there is no harm to her. I'm typically over protective(or so I'm told). My daughter has a slight fever and I want to take her to the doctor. I stare down every man around if we're out in public. Whether they're looking at her or their back is turned to us. I'm paranoid. But seriously. This is ridiculous to say he's harming children when no children were present during the explicit song.

I'm strangely ok with this. If they update the computer and the rootkit conflicts with the new patch and makes the computer unusable, they'll just get blasted for breaking people's computers. But if they don't update the computer, then the person is still able to use it. If they're warned that they can't update because they have a rootkit on their system and they do nothing about it, I feel no sympathy for them. At least Microsoft didn't make their system less operational. They should get rid of the rootkit and then update. If Microsoft let people update while knowing that it would make the computers unusable if they had this rootkit. People would still call foul on Microsoft. This way they're at least giving people a warning and chance to fix their problem, not making the problem worse.

Comment Books vs. E-books (Score 3, Interesting) 538

I love books. I much prefer to read a dead-tree book than an e-book. There's just something I love about sitting on a couch with a book in my hands turning the pages as I read. It doesn't matter if it's a technical book, fiction, nonfiction, or a textbook of some sort. I prefer the actual thing. Looking at a screen trying to read an e-book just sucks in my opinion(admittedly I have yet to use the Nook or other such devices).

That said. I can't afford the dead-tree versions of alot of the books I want. So I have to resort to e-books. The people like Murdoch need to catch up with the times. Amazon makes it to where I can afford to read the books I love. As far as I'm concerned, they get my business because they tend to do things for the customers from what I've seen, not their wallets.
