They have just allowed that also, (at least on mobile app) you could mute a person, then they allowed muting a whole sub, which is great because like everyone else who said it, Reddit is full of whackos who have created a lord of the flies type architecture, run by petulant children.

I concur, as an ex pat living in the U.K., you should see the look on people here when I try to describe the tax system in the US, I still have to file every year even though my income is totally U.K. based, finding a free e-tax program every year is a nightmare, the companies keep changing what they support and don't fucking tell you until you're at the point of doing foreign income. It's BS. We shouldn't have to pay to file our taxes, but to do it on paper would be ridiculous.
Let's not forget the best part of U.K. taxes, if you win at gambling (legal everywhere here) or win the lottery, no tax!

The weather here is usually pretty stable, rain, clouds, drizzle, maybe a sunny day for a bit in the summer. This summer has been drought conditions for most of the southern 1/2 of the country and now It's Sept. and we are having thunderstorms through the whole country right now... thunderstorms are a little rare here, but in Sept it's very rare.

Abandon... these potential homeowners will be going in knowing the power deal, it will be more like an HOA but with its own power generation, there will be rules about usage ie. No bitcoin farming or industrial style equipment running, and no chance to sell the power generation facilities off. And let's not forget it's California... there's plenty of people with money to spend there.
If everyone behaved themselves, it could most definitely work.

Submission + - Thousands of Xcel customers locked out of thermostats during 'energy emergency' (thedenverchannel.com) 2

drewsup writes: During the dog days of summer, it's important to keep your home cool. But when thousands of Xcel customers in Colorado tried adjusting their thermostats Tuesday, they learned they had no control over the temperatures in their own homes.
Temperatures climbed into the 90s Tuesday, which is why Tony Talarico tried to crank up the air conditioning in his partner's Arvada home.

"I mean, it was 90 out, and it was right during the peak period," Talarico said. "It was hot."

That's when he saw a message on the thermostat stating the temperature was locked due to an "energy emergency."
Normally, when we see a message like that, we're able to override it," Talarico said. "In this case, we weren't. So, our thermostat was locked in at 78 or 79."
Xcel confirmed to Contact Denver7 that 22,000 customers who had signed up for the Colorado AC Rewards program were locked out of their smart thermostats for hours on Tuesday.
