It shouldn't be that hard to replace the floppydrive with a memorycard reader, as there are enough of those converters available to use a memorycard reader on a connector for the floppydrive.
There is also ofcourse the "If it ain't broken, don't fix it" reason, replacing a perfectly good working system with a new system would probably cost a couple of million, even though replacing the actual controlhardware would be a couple of bucks.
