Comment "clear prioritization of shareholder returns" (Score 1) 132

Ah, pursuit of the dollar fucks everything up again. I work in sales. My best advice to people is don't go chasing the dollars. Find what your customers need and serve them. If you are a slut to the dollar at the cost of service to your customers, you're going to get a stench that is VERY HARD to wash off. That's what Boeing is doing and now they rank of it. They're serving their stockholders at the expense of their customers... their customers safety and lives on some levels! Their stockholders need the very same thing their customers need: planes that don't crash. Prioritizing stock returns could be great for the short term, but now we may see the consequence on a long term.

Donâ(TM)t they call it âoehigh speed internetâ now? They slathered a little lipstick on the pig.

Got some cold calls after a hurricane when Cox was struggling to get their stuff up and running. ATT however was impressively responsive with generators and trucks everywhere. They were even knocking on doors to get new customers. I asked the guy knocking on my door if they had fiber in the neighborhood yet as Iâ(TM)ve seen them laying new infrastructure. It cuts off about a quarter mile down my street. Told him I was interested in slower mislabeled DSL.

You're quick to say they were all breaking the law, just like much of the internet supporting this site may do. One of the challenges this guy admitted was identifying who isn't media, police, government, or simply not breaking the law. That's a lot of what-if and stands to potentially ruin the lives of innocent people.

Comment Helping who? (Score 1) 433

Who is this going to help exactly? The strong arm of justice? How many of those faces that were geo-tagged nearby didn't actually riot or break the law? It isn't going to help those people, but instead make their lives miserable while they're in the spotlight. This has the potential for a lot of generalization and stands to be mountain-out-of-a-mole-hill cyber-mob justice.

America has done healthcare backwards for a very long time. It's cultural for us. We would rather spend a huge amount of money on the highest tiers of care than spend a little money at the lowest tier. Even Obamacare making preventative care no charge (for the insured) hasn't changed it.

Moderna flavor. Arm was sore for a few days. No fever, no tiredness, just a sore arm. I'll take that 100x over COVID. Waiting for the next dose. There's a bit of relief as my wife and I wondered how we'd handle being sick with 3 young, active kids, specifically the overpowering exhaustion and long sleeps/naps we've heard about people helplessly getting.

I work in medical industry and the hospital I'm usually at decided not to give them to vendors, despite that I'm there every day and it would make sense to give it to me and other frequent vendors. I got the invitation, the paperwork, and showed up. One of my contacts had told me he was going to clarify my situation with his superiors, but wouldn't stop me if he didn't get a text response so he hurried me through. Thankful for that guy.

100% agree. My grandmother joined the work force at 15, dropped out of high school to help support her family after her father died. It was a necessity for the family to survive. I suspect may have worked under similar circumstances; it must happen elsewhere.

The irony here is the US, while claiming to be a high and mighty tolerable and PC society, is actually intolerant of other cultures where this is apparently acceptable. Yet those kids may have had food taken out of their mouths as a result of this. I highly doubt Apple paid them severance over the issue.
