.mack writes: "Apple has announced plans to add code-scrambling diversity to Mac OS X Leopard, a move aimed at making the operating system more resilient to virus and worm attacks. The security technology, known as ASLR (address space layout randomization), randomly arranges the positions of key data areas to prevent malware authors from predicting target addresses. Another new feature coming in Leopard is Sandboxing (systrace), which limits an application's access to the system by enforcing access policies for system calls."

Vietnam is preparing a symposium for the 10 year anniversary of internet in Vietnam. So what is next for Vietnam? Majors players like Intel, Canon, Renesas, Acer, Brother, etc. are currently investing Billions of dollars into manufacturing and assembly in Vietnam and Vietnam is struggling to build a software development outsourcing market. I'll tell you what I'm hoping for, cheaper internet access. A single Fixed IP aDSL line still costs $200/month!!!"

The last attempt to find the bottom yielded the SCUBA diving depth record and the death of a diving legend. The sub's SONAR found that the divers were about 10m from the floor, and that the sinkhole which is over 300m deep could be connected to even deeper caves.

Mr.Misu writes: "-Create a remote desktop connection. -Activate ScreenSaver with On resume, password protect, on the remote machine. -When no activity (remote desktop left in the taskbar) for the designated time, when maximized the login screen pops. -Now we try it differently. -Login again minimize the window with the remote descktop connection. -Leave it in the taskbar so the screensaver time expires (don't maximize it, leave it in the taskbar). -Now for the interesting part: now pull out the ethernet cable (for dialup disconnect the modem; make the connection drop, one way or another) wait for a few seconds and reconnect it and surprise no login screen. Tested on win XP and win 2003 server."

The Mysterious X writes: "The BBC is reporting that Cutty Sark, the 19th centuary clipper, is on fire. Greenwich town centre has been closed, as has the docklands light railway, and reports indicate there are 40 firefighters on scene fighting the blaze. The latest news is that 100% of the ship is on fire, and it is feared that gas bottles onboard, left there due to renovation works may explode. Firefighters are treating the blaze as suspicious."

Michael writes "Opera CTO Håkon Wium Lie hit back today at Microsoft's push to fast track Office Open XML into an ISO standard, in a blistering article on CNET. He also took a swipe at Open Document Format: 'I'm no fan of either specification. Both are basically memory dumps with angle brackets around them. If forced to choose one, I'd pick the 700-page specification (ODF) over the 6,000-page specification (OOXML). But I think there is a better way.' The better way being the existing universally understood standards of HTML and CSS. Putting this to the test, Håkon has published a book using HTML and CSS."
