Comment That's ok, I'm getting old, I can stop......... (Score 1) 64

If you make the next consoles, discless, I'm out - I'm done.

I have many many games I've never played which I should.
I will not be held hostage to insane online pricing.

I'm NOT in America so I can tell you now, ebay? Buying a bluray game (protective coating is part of bluray spec, they are very very scratch resistant) is a fantastic way to go.

Even if I buy new, physical, the costs range from 20 to 60% cheaper than online.
Don't for a SECOND try and tell me "it's ok, once physical is gone, they'll discount digital just as much"

Not a chance. Especially if you're an eclectic gamer with unique taste.

There's hundreds of PS2, PS3, PS4/5 games I probably should've played and I'm happy to try Nintendo and Microsoft too.

Physical pricing shouldn't but has beaten digital far far too often for me to believe otherwise.

Comment Oh wow. (Score 1) 84

The original accounts were actually worth money, on ebay if you had a grandathered plan.
I set up a small business with a 50 plan years and years ago (they're off it now)

Heck of a move though, some people are going to be pissed.

Honestly, Office 365 is vastly superior though, by leaps and bounds.

I thought there might be a case of me getting downvoted for my 'sticking with Android 9' post I just made but based on this post and the replies to it, sounds like I'm on the money.

I don't like the look and feel of Android 10, I haven't even seen 11 or 12. I just know it seems to be worse each time nowadays.

Comment Even more 'material design' has me on Android 9. (Score 1) 80

My phone shipped with Android 9 and goes up to 11 if I allow it, however I've seen the 10 and 11 UI changes and decided, nope, I'm good.

The waste of even more screen real estate is horrific, it gets worse with each release.

Also Android 10, 11 ship with a new version of google maps, with the compass removed, which to me, based on how my brain works, is unacceptable, it helps me mentally navigate.

I am eternally, deeply, wildly upset with businesses *CONTINUALLY* changing things for the sake of change and not thinking it through.

I propose and have proposed for a while now, official "optomise it!" week for ALL SOFTWARE on the planet, once a week.

No features, no design changes, just optomise, optomise, optomise your old trash for a week.
MS Teams runs like a dog on anything less than a supercomputer.
I get that you can't spin magic forever and have a C64 run things like a 128 Core epyc rig, but man software seems slower and buggier than ever.

Google was the only company who could've defeated iMessage. Long long ago, when the internet was getting really big for 'normies' - around 2002-2008 or so, pretty much _everyone_ had a gmail account.

Back then, people didn't have exhaustion from signing up to services, you tell someone you can get a free gmail, oh wow! and they'd do it.
EVERYONE had one (well, most people)
Google Chat was a heck of a simple, easy, reliable thing.

Google could've, made the one defacto chat standard for the web and eventually mobile, had they not REPEATEDLY dropped the ball on messaging solutions and I emphasize, REPEATEDLY. Kept killing off old, useful services, rebranding, launching something new and inferior.

They could've made some kind of web / sms solution which was amazing, before iMessage existed. They didn't though, the opposite, they made their chat services so poor, no one uses them, it's all signal, telegram, what'sapp, facebook messenger now. "Hangouts" (hah) or whatever is a distant memory.

Had they made this solution the iPhone users might have all used this, to a point that they never bothered with iMessage.

Alas it was not to be. Now iMessage is an Apple only product. I don't care for it as I don't like Apple but Google can hardly whinge, they dropped the ball. They're annoyed they got it wrong in the first place.
