Submission + - Windows 7 update will target piracy

catd77 writes: To combat Windows 7 piracy Microsoft will release an update in the coming weeks. The update will be called "Windows Activation Technologies Update for Windows 7", and it will find known signs of "potentially dangerous activation exploits". But, apparently all your "important data" will be safe from prying eyes, and will be saved even if you have a pirated copy of Windows 7. A notification will appear to alert you of how you can fix it. So update wisely pirates.

An anonymous reader writes: Widespread reports from several sources seem to indicate that the Patch for the 15 year old privelege escalation flaw, discovered by Google patched by Microsoft this past Tuesday as patch MS10-015, may cause Windows XP machines to fail their bootup sequence with a Blue screen. On some PC's this state is not recoverable without a repair process involving a Windows XP CD which few OEM users posses.

StarCraft II Beta To Begin This Month 182

mrxak writes "It's official; Activision Blizzard's much-anticipated sequel to 12-year-old StarCraft is going to enter closed beta 'this month,' according to company President Mike Morhaime during an investor conference call. This comes in the wake of the SC2 beta forums showing up briefly on Battle.net. If you've got a Battle.net account, it's probably not too late to opt-in for upcoming Blizzard beta tests."
