Comment As a former Comcast employee (Score 4, Interesting) 38

I often ended up with elderly phone service customers experiencing long service outages. According to premises techs and dispatch reps the intermittent problems don't get fixed because corporate doesn't want to pay for infrastructure repair. On my walk home today I saw yet another example, a Comcast bucket truck leaving multiple cables dangling from overhead lines and the pole to the ground. That's Comcast's "10G" network they've been advertising in a desperate attempt to mislead people. The Xfinity branding lifetime had run its course so they had to make up some new lies.

Comment These days (Score 1) 55

Capitalism is when freedom loving free market economics proponents want to do business in authoritarian communist states. I can't think of anything more capitalist. Our corps are addicted to the advantages of nearly free labor with few rights, poor environmental controls, and cultural customs that encourage blind loyalty to authority figures. It's perverse.

Germany is still required to dump carbon into the air because they refuse to adopt nuclear for baseload. I wonder how many decades it's going to take before they and others realize what's happening directly in front of their faces.

they forced people to buy the Kinect by packing it with the Xbox One. Many promises and no good deliveries. Imagine the price competitive advantage if Microsoft had nixed the Kinect and removed the cost of it from a standalone Xbox One. Microsoft would've dominated the console market, but instead they began their decline. Microsoft got high on it's own hype supply.

taught us that UFO nonsense is a scheme to get R&D cash to build many military technologies. They lie to corporates saying they possess alien technology capable of certain advanced tasks. That kind of tech is so tempting for prospective contractors they just can't pass up access to it. In reality anything leaked to these corporations is purely theoretical. According to Corso a couple examples of this turning into real products are night vision and self guided cruise missiles.

Comment I noticed this after a clean Win11 install. (Score 1) 77

I recently installed Windows 11 clean and when I got to the desktop for the first time I noticed that it had somehow already installed Gigabyte's "APP Center" down in the system tray area. That then told me I needed system drivers but it also tried to install Norton Internet Security as well. Coincidence?
