The big problem with this idea is that, much like other "society changing" ideas, no one will use it. The inherent fear/insecurity that humanity has towards things outside of their control ensures that this, and any other technology of this sort, will go unused and disregarded. I'm not being cynical, I'm being honest. I think this is a great idea, and I think it needs to be researched and experimented with further. I will, however, never use such technology since it impinges on my inherent need to have control over my surroundings. Self-driving cars...meh.

Submission + - Woot to AP: You owe us $17.50 (consumerist.com)

ChipMonk writes: The Associated Press have draconian terms for using their content, but they have no problem swiping content from others:

You see, when we showed off our good news on Wednesday afternoon, we expected we'd get a little bit of attention. But when we found your little newsy thing you do, we couldn't help but notice something important. And that something is this: you printed our web content in your article! The web content that came from our blog! Why, isn't that the very thing you've previously told nu-media bloggers they're not supposed to do? So, The AP, here we are. Just to be fair about this, we've used your very own pricing scheme to calculate how much you owe us. By looking through the link above, and comparing your post with our original letter, we've figured you owe us roughly $17.50 for the content you borrowed from our blog post, which, by the way, we worked very very hard to create.... All you'll need to do is show us your email receipt from today's two pack of Sennheiser MX400 In-Ear Headphones, and we'll call it even.

None of the information presented in this is relevent. The company/organization involved did exactly what they should have: used the law from the country of the company in question to force an action. What the f(*& should they have done? File suit in Nigeria? Demand restitution from the Knights Templar? Ask for summary judgment from good King Wenislas?

Feed Engadget: LG's Windows Phone 7 phone caught in the wild, looking good (engadget.com)

Been wondering how that LG proto unit debuted on The Engadget Show is doing? Pocket-lint got to see the QWERTY slider up close and personal in London yesterday, and their takeaway from the meetup was that the device and OS are well on their way to stardom. Calling it the LG Panther, they delve into its deep Facebook integration, which throws up status updates when you hit on a contact in your address book, ability to recognize addresses and provide relevant links to Bing maps, as well as its quick and clear Zune media player. The latter was accompanied by confirmation that the Zune Store will be hitting the UK in time for Windows Phone 7's release, which could happen as early as September -- it all depends on who you talk to. Hit the source for more imagery and impressions.

An anonymous reader writes: Is the Android platform in general going to risk anything or is Microsoft just suing HTC for their hardware technology and not the Android OS it self.
