Comment Texting is becoming too dangerous (Score 1) 284

Texting while doing stuff just needs to stop in general. A few friends and I went out last night to go ice skating. I saw two people texting while skating, and the rink was full enough that I suspect there were more I didn't see. As a college student, it's getting fucking ridiculous every time that I have to try to navigate around some clueless person on the sidewalk who's paying more attention to texting than the world around them.

I would assume you use a lot more water on a daily basis for showers than for food (possible exception if you live alone and take quick showers and if you have a large, high-volume dishwasher). As such, the water bill if you split it evenly in terms of dollar per volume would lean more heavily onto the "shelter" side.

Back in high school, I went on a three week trip to Europe as part of a multiple-school music program. My friends and I decided that we were going to spend the trip looking for the best pizza in Europe. We tried pizza in Germany, Switzerland, Austrian, Italy, and France, but the best pizza was a little shop in Venice.

It was tucked away in some back road that we only found because we got lost. I wouldn't be able to find the place again if my life depended on it. That said, the pizza there was absolutely amazing. Extremely thin and delicious crust, four kinds of amazing cheese, and a wonderful tomato sauce. What I wouldn't give to find that pizza again.

Christians, for the most part, don't rape young boys, so stop lumping them all together. According to Wikipedia, 76% of the US population identifies as Christian. Do you really believe that 76% of Christians rape young boys? Yes, it does happen sometimes. When it comes to light, though, those responsible have been brought to justice. That hasn't happened yet for Scientology's crimes.

Honest question: suppose you're convicted of a crime you didn't commit, with no chance of being exonerated. You get to choose between spending the rest of your life in prison or being executed. Which would you choose? I think that I personally would probably prefer dying over having to spend the rest of my life locked up with actual criminals for a crime I didn't commit.

Indeed. This is why I have incredibly mixed feelings about reading the comments on religious matters here. On the one hand, we have the reasonable religious people and the reasonable atheists. They actually argue legitimate points in both directions, and the discussions can be quite fascinating (see above where people discuss how Catholic catechism would handle the concept of alien life). On the other hand, we get the idiots who come in with comments like the GP's--you know, the ones like "These people are all idiots and should be put in a mental institution for having imaginary friends!!!11". These people do nothing to help their cause, instead only increasing the dislikes and distrust between the religious and non-religious.

Even more likely: only Windows. When I came to college I was offered a subscription to Ruckus, a now-defunct service where you could download music for free but only listen to it before your subscription expired at the end of your time at school. Of course, everyone with a Mac or Linux (yeah, there were a few) were out of luck.
