I would say the same thing, but there are several countries that can effectively impose their will anywhere within the Moon's orbit and a handful that could manage anything within the solar system. That said, having navigational control of a big rock on the edge of a gravity well may prove to be a hefty bargaining chip.

Your officers were full of shit. Having a private channel list is perfectly legal. Your content is perfectly readable: you're changing channels. "QSY channel 4" is no different than "QSY Bob's repeater." Just because an outsider wouldn't know who Bob is, doesn't mean you're using a code or cipher.

Russia and China float boats in international waters off our coast all the time. China just doesn't have much in the way of a navy capable of stationing them there. Russia, in particular, is known to cruise their subs all over and rumor has it they've shadowed US military ships going in and out of ports. International waters are international and open to use by all. This is not the first and certainly won't be the last time superpowers poke at each other from international borders while saying "I'm not touching you!"

Because you can feel the relative strength where you are. Also, you start to get a feel for how far away it is based on the motion. Close ones rock'n'roll at the same time, while further ones get a jolt or two followed by a rolling motion.

It's part of the SoCal culture/tradition, so Independence Day had it right.

Just a word of warning: My current coworkers have been on the job for 8, 12, 15, and 17 years respectively. Three of the four are idiots, resistant to change, and like doing things backward because it's comfortable (we're still using Classic ASP and VBScript for our webpages, exposed SQL server, build 70% of queries in code, filter data in code loops instead of bulk where clauses). Sometimes, they have no choice but stay because they're too incompetent to move on and the manager is too dumb or spineless to fire them.

As someone with one of those trucks destroyed by ultra-low sulfur diesel, it's true. If I don't include additive with every tank, I'm risking a costly injection pump replacement. Older injection pumps relied on the fuel as a lubricant internally and the ultra-low sulfur diesel doesn't provide that. Older trucks are either using additive, or have had a $1500+ repair to upgrade/replace the injection pump. That's more than some of those trucks are worth.
