Relax. I've worked with cameras before. At any given time, about 80% of them are broken. If, and this is a big IF, they happen to be working, the footage is usually useless. Of all the incidents I had to drive to a location and try and get footage off of a DVR, I would imagine about 2% of those times produced something usable for law enforcement.

And note: When there is a failure, the solution is always more and better quality (more expensive) cameras. Funny how that works.

I've done CRUD database stuff for years now. I have looked and looked at "easy" stuff over the years. Almost every single thing I have looked at over the years, it's "easy" until the first time you need to do something difficult, then it isn't.

That said, Visual Basic in the .Net world compiles to the same bitecode as C#. I now hate working with VB, but it can do pretty much anything C# can do. It's just more wordy. In some blocks of code, there isn't much difference between VB and C# code.

MS Access is a fine database, for what it is.

I actually kind of like making web-based front-ends for Access/Excel stuff. If it already works and has been working, I can just look at it and know what I need to do to get it on the web.

Can't read TFA either, but if that is 4 Mbps down, sure you can stream Netflix. I watched Netflix on a 1.5 Mbps DSL...as long as it wasn't being oversold by CenturyLink. It may not be high def, but it works just fine. May not stream to five different family members, either.

As someone in a rural area, if you are crunched for bandwidth, youtube is absolutely the best. Google knows what they are doing.

Note: I despise CenturyLink and they are consistently at the top of my list of crappy companies. Even ATT is better, and I have had some pretty dodgy customer service with ATT.

Yes. Also, they now include some "free" books with the subscription, and they also run sales all the time. They have a Daily Deal book in the 2 - 5 dollars. At least every few months, they run one good enough that I pick it up. They often have two books for one credit sales, as well as 50% off sales. And every year or so, they give you a free credit.

I often take a chance on these deals and get something I wouldn't normally buy. A few of these books have turned out to be some of my all time favorites.

I gripe sometimes about the setup, but I have been a subscriber for years now.

The only place I really actually like using a tablet is for the few times every year or so I find myself staying in a hotel room. They are nice for streaming movies to, without having to fight with a big keyboard and power cords.

If I had to work on a tablet every day, I would throw it across the room and find a new job. They suck for input and real work.

I really feel like if managers had to work on one all day long, the tables would be flying across rooms.

Use the right tool for the job...and tables suck for anything but entertainment that you can easily scroll through.

I'm screwed because I wake up in the middle of the night and can't go back to sleep. I kind of do a split sleeping pattern because of this (Go to be early, wake up for a few hours in the middle of the night, go back to sleep until morning). I'm not sure what constitutes a nap with me, because it is sort of not a nap and just sleeping for me. The alternative is chancing waking up at 3:00 in the morning and going all day on 4 hours of sleep. Man, I hate that.

I have followed the Alzheimer's thing for a while, though, and figure I'm doomed.

This is not true. Yes, you can still get Covid-19 with a mask. But if you get a lighter viral load, you can get a mild case. Before the vaccine was available, a mild or asymptomatic case helped give you immunity. There is a good article here:

https://www.inverse.com/mind-b...

Or this good video on the subject: https://youtu.be/5ho3M8i-jXA

The bottom line is, hardly anyone ever said the were foolproof. They were just supposed to slow down the spread enough to keep resources at hospitals freed up.

I recently challenged someone to find anyone that said wearing a mask absolutely stopped the spread of COVID-19. He produced absolutely nothing for me.

It all depends on the sensitivity of the app and the risk of the user at that point in time.”

I use a U2F key with google. Not seeing much of a way around it. However, with Facebook, I believe you can skip the U2F key if you have another device logged in to FB and you approve the new login from the already logged in device.

The real problem is, there is too much (new) good music. I can say, if I had access to Youtube when I was in high school, I would have been in heaven. However, when I had a "album" in high school, I played it until I wore it out. There is so much good music on YT that even when I find a fantastic song today, I may only listen to it once or twice. Every week so much new stuff is dropping that it is possible to only listen to something new every day. It's great for me.

However, for an artist, just getting to someone listen to your great song one or two times isn't exactly a great business model.
