Comment Re:Putin needs trump (Score 3, Insightful) 199

We may never find out what Putin has on Trump. However, I think it is safe to assume that Trump wants what Putin has. Lifetime presidency and the power that goes with it. Anybody who objects goes straight to prison. What is not to like?

And looking at the Republican party of today, I think these people are eager to give it to him. Many in the Republican party have been trained to admire Russia. And that training continues with the likes of Tucker Carlson signing praises of Kremlin leadership, their grocery stores, their whiteness...

If Reagan were to show up today, the Republican party would immediately reject him as a libtard. And Trump would come up with some choice nicknames for him.

I will agree that Bard's technical capabilities are not very good when compared with others. I mostly use various AI services for software development related topics. All AI tools occasionally hallucinate. But Bard is in a league by itself.

He is a fan of Putin himself. Having visited him, as the prime minister, right after Russian invasion of 2022. Everything I know about him, makes me think that he is actually guilty of the crimes he is accused of.

I speak from experience. I have owned GM vehicles in the past and currently own a GM Volt. I also own a Tesla. The interface for the two vehicles couldn't be more different. It is clear that GM's interface for nearly everything was designed by a committee of clueless execs. It is exceptionally painful to use. GM has been making these things or a very very long time. You'd think that they'd fix some of the super obvious shortcomings. But, no. They refuse to put any effort into it.

Also, they love the monthly recurring revenue thing too much. For me to able to remotely lock/unlock the car, I have to pay $15/month. It is free with every Tesla. Sure Tesla is more expensive, but GM can provide basic functions for free if your car is connected to wifi. Nope. And, if I want to update the software in my car, I have to take it to the dealer. So, I am not feeding it information I do not want anyone to know. And when it comes down to it, I have very little information I don't anyone to know. I primarily use AI as a software development assistant. And it is OK with me if they steal all of my code. I don't consider it a secret. What is not OK is that the AI software development tool spits out utter garbage. And that is what Google's AI does. OpenAI is so far ahead of Google that it is not even funny.

I fed some sample code to both tools this morning and asked it to explain to me what the code was trying to do. And the output did nothing to change my impression that Google's AI tools are utter rubbish.

On a side note, if you are a software developer and you are not using AI, you might as well start writing software in assembly. That is what *real* software devs do.

This report had me scratching my head. Our EV ownership has been trouble-free. None of us will ever buy a gas car again. And then I noticed that the report says that Tesla owners don't face the problems they are talking about. Only legacy auto manufacturers trying to build EVs. If you buy one of their EVs, then yes, expect problems. They are very new at it.

The story title is click-baity. It really should say that companies that haven't built EVs before are building unreliable EVs. But, yes, it is not as catchy. And somewhat obvious.

However, we have hired more people in order to grow the business. We have a captive audience with our customers. In our case, we are hoping that some of our customers chalk up the increases to global inflationary pressures. I imagine we are not alone.

All this talk of inflation allows some businesses to raise prices, even when their underlying costs have not changed or even gone down.
