Just FYI, I have an Android build available, however the DPad I implemented is quite unenjoyable, which is why I'm not distributing the Android version just yet. You can look forward to it in the Android Market in a week or two at the low low cost of Gratis.

This is a java game. All you need is Java to run it. Perhaps rightclicking->Open with Java might help :-)

I can't speak for the rest, but I made a game because I wanted to see just what I was capable of doing in one month, during my spare time.

As a result, I now know how to work with libgdx, spritesheets, tmx maps and other useful skills that would help in the future.

I appreciate contests like these and am looking forward to participating on a similar one, definitely scaling down my project's scope to something a bit more realistic.

We did have an additional 24 hour extended deadline. The contest actually ended in August 1st. :-)

I also participated in the contest. I made an action-rpg with the above title, and would certainly appreciate some feedback. I know that the game is both short and the ending just cuts off suddenly, I worked until the last few minutes of the deadline.

Democracy is dead. In today's world of overflowing money, the one with the largest pockets will win.

In Mexico, we claim to have an institution dedicated to fight Vote Fraud, but despite innumerable amounts of proof that PRI (Political Party) bought votes, and people purposedly miscounted votes, or nulled them, they've done absolutely nothing.

It doesn't matter the system, analog or digital. They (The ones with power) impose whoever they want. I've given up trying.

From what I understand, if you use GPL Art on a non-free game, and redistribute the gpl art with the game, you're in violation of the gpl license.

I thought the standard slashdot post contained the disclaimer "I am not a lawyer, this is not legal advice".

If the art is GPL, the code must be GPL as well, (which means it can't be closed).
The art is dual-licensed though, which means it's up to you to choose CC-By-SA 3 or GPLv3, at your convenience.

If you choose to use the GPL license for art, all further modifications to said art will be done under the GPL License.

If someone were to grab your modified art, they'd have to use the GPL License as well.

On the other hand, CC-By-SA Means that you can use it on a closed-source game, however the art being CC-By-SA Means that your assets (and any modifications you make to them) can be used by other game devs.

Just because the sprites are RPG style doesn't mean you have to write an RPG. You could easily make a TCG (I'm working on one), or a Shmup featuring dragons instead of ships and killing villagers, or a Tactical RPG, or a bomberman-like game.

Point is that the sprites are useful for a lot of genres, you just have to be creative.
