what about your own responsibilities to serve the people and follow the law? You're all a bunch of fucking hypocrites and if you had any ethics you'd be ashamed of yourselves. But no, instead you'll do what you can to make this man out to be the evil while ignoring your own complicity in eroding what the United States was founded on.

Fuck you.

I think you misread the intent of OPs comment. Maybe I'm being naive/altruistic, but I took it as a sincere "good luck" because as even us Americans know, "'Murica! Fuck yeah!" Corporate interests will lobby hard to fight NZ doing this. I think it's great, and I hope it paves the way for other places to admit the ridiculousness of it and strike it down as well.

While it may lower the cost of the software somewhat (or may not) it further removes ownership of said software from you, which is exactly what hey want. It's also exactly what I (and many others I suspect) do not want. I want to pay for software exactly once. I want to then be able to install it on any god damn computer I want, so long as it (the computer) is owned by me or an immediate family member. I don't want it attached to some security scheme that requires an Internet connection, causing it to eventually fail unless the company patches it or release a non-leashed version. Lastly, I want to be able to sell it to someone else when I move on, and have them be able to use it without issue, because not everyone is rich and able to afford the latest version, let alone at all sometimes. Frankly I don't think I am asking too much.

At current costs? Of course not. People would *love* to have more speed. But not if it's going to cost $100+ a month to get it like TWC/Cox/Comcast/etc. would charge for it. They create their own stagnation with greed.

It's because employers in the US (most of them) are slave driving assholes who don't care if you're sick, you get your ass to work and make your masters their money! Not many places offer sick days, and even if they do they'd rather you "tough it out" and come to work.

It's an incredibly ignorant POV but i don't see it changing anytime soon. Making more money is more important than your easily replaceable selfs health.
