strikeleader writes: CenturyTel Inc. plans to buy Denver's Qwest Communications International Inc.
If completed, the merger will create a telecom serving 37 states with about 5 million broadband customers and 17 million phone lines. Qwest (NYSE: Q) alone operates in Colorado and 13 other states.
The two companies reported a combined $19.8 billion in revenues in 2009.
The combined company would be the nation's No. 3 local-phone company, behind AT&T Inc. and Verizon Communications Inc.

I'm sure that your logic is comforting to all the state, city, town, and municipalities in the country. Why is it that if doesn't cost as much as the war that it is OK to spend money.
That is the same logic when a spouse spends money that is not in the budget but justifies it by saying that it was on sale. Regardless how you look at it someone (taxpayers’) have to pay for everything our governments do. When does fiscal responsibility come into play?
