Here's the current situation: - Email works everywhere. There's no "Microsoft email vs Google email" problems. You have an email account, you can send and receive email from other users with an email account. It's all compatible, world-wide.

You don't seem to remember winmail.dat files or TNEF in general!

You're right, it takes a lot of energy to heat up that much oil, that's the point. It doesn't take much energy to heat up a cubic foot of air, it takes a lot more to heat up a cubic foot of oil, the effort here is to remove as much of the energy that would go into melting chips as is possible.
Liquid to air heat exchangers can be made as big as you need pretty cheaply, it's easier to pump 800 cubic feet of air through a big radiator cooling one cubic foot of oil than it is to pump 800 cubic feet of air through an OEM heat-sink.

I love my little green "OK"s when my machine starts up, I even remember seeing some red "Failed"s a long time ago, the damn cat chewed through an ethernet cable, used the remnants to hang the cat from the rack as a warning to her kittens - no issues since.

I thank my lucky stars that I have a prescription for drugs that have a serious detrimental effect on my driving, I can run over all sorts of folks and it's okay!
In my state if you hit somebody after you've been drinking and they die, it's murder and you get a minimum of 12 years.
Kill someone while you are driving on a legal prescription though and you'll get a max of 2 year.
All of these are examples of stupid laws - I don't care why you killed someone, whether you were high, drunk, medicated or stupid, you should be tried on the result, not the reason. Hate crimes and crimes of passion are the same, stupid and short sighted.

Remote disconnect is a bad idea and shouldn't be there in the first place, the power company won't do a remote connect, they require a human be present.
Given that, the only thing the meter needs to do is transmit two things; the current read and some sort of serial number for ID - it can send that as morse code, there is no need for encryption.

Because typesetting hasn't been digital for very long in any real sense. I know companies that still maintain and use hot lead presses to do printing.
I've worked in the printing industry for almost twenty years, seen the revolution, thought it would have been over by now but it isn't.
