We will see a change; either people will pull their heads out of their asses, or they will be removed.

Sorry, but do you mean the people will be removed, their heads will be removed, or their asses will be removed? I'm curious because one of these will require a novel redesign of the guillotine...

I haven't seen a lot of control over buffering levels etc. If it stopped due to insufficient bandwidth, then it would be nice to pause, set it to buffer ahead up to say 20 minutes, take a restroom or snack break, and then come back with more of the movie in the buffer to reduce chance of flow stoppage.

MySQL Man Pages Silently Relicensed Away From GPL 243

An anonymous reader writes "The MariaDB blog is reporting a small change to the license covering the man pages to MySQL. Until recently, the governing license was GPLv2. Now the license reads, 'This software and related documentation are provided under a license agreement containing restrictions on use and disclosure and are protected by intellectual property laws. Except as expressly permitted in your license agreement or allowed by law, you may not use, copy, reproduce, translate, broadcast, modify, license, transmit, distribute, exhibit, perform, publish, or display any part, in any form, or by any means. Reverse engineering, disassembly, or decompilation of this software, unless required by law for interoperability, is prohibited.'"

Comment Re:Sometimes I think *de*regulation is the answer (Score 1) 152

What about when Goldman-Sachs started selling loans that would default so they could collect 16 insurance payouts instead. Yeah, no need to regulate that.

If it were widely known to be not regulated, the insurance companies could have (a) done more proper due-dillegence, and (b) could have set appropriate premiums.

Probably is that the insurance companies were under the impression that there was regulation in place that Goldman knew how to bypass.

Same with most of your examples.
