I don't know about Linux or OSX, but Windows has had a pretty nice speech recognition function (aptly titled Windows Speech Recognition) built into it since Vista. I don't use it much anymore now that I have a bunch of remote programs for Android, but it was useful for controlling my computer from across the room (or slouched down in my chair like a troglodyte). It can be used to type, open programs, select links, highlight the browser's address bar, and even click on a particular area of the screen using a fairly useful "mousegrid" system.

It works a lot better than that ill-fated live demonstration that was making the rounds a few years back, too.

I think you underestimate the value of convenience. Having a picture is about keeping a memory of a moment. If you can capture those moments wherever you are without fumbling around for equipment, then the purpose of having the camera in the first place has been fulfilled. Higher quality would be nice, but we're quickly getting there. My phone takes better pictures than a lot of the film cameras I used to have.

I doubt it's anything that well-thought-through. Remember that while there are a lot of real hackers and such that call themselves a part of "Anonymous", a lot of 15-year-olds who think image macros are the height of hilarity do too.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a bunch of them using their real information on there, even.

Meanwhile, people are starving the world over while this guy apparently, according to the article, is fighting for the Austrian government to legally recognize a religion that started as a joke. Glad he's fighting for the rights of people who really aren't discriminated against in today's society instead of actually helping people.
