Comment Nobody Cares (Score 1) 219

Apple isn't going to lean to hard on its suppliers, its all about the bottom line. After this drops off the news cycle, people will go back to 'Thinking Different' and not caring where their bright and shiny gadgets come from. Shareholders only care about profitability, not human welfare. As long as Apple keeps on producing the next iWant, workers in the cheap labor producing countries are out of luck.

Forget China, South Korea doesn't want unification because they would end up paying the bill. The unification of East and West Germany did not go that well in the beginning and North Korea does not come close to East Germany.

OTOH, if North and South do reunite, Scott Evil (aka Kim jong Un) wouldn't be so ronery.

After the first sentence in most of the enduser comments, I tuned out: Blah, blah, we make the real money, IT is just the hired help, blah blah we should outsource, blah blah PCs work automagically anyways. Yeah OK, let me know if VoIP and the new MPLS circuit really are plug and play.

Remember IT policies are like stoplights, they are there for a reason, usually its that somebody in your department screwed up, big time, and it took a lot of time to fix it. Look at the desired end result of the offending IT policy, if you have a better way to do it, say something about it.

If in fact, an IT policy is truly bad, it came from management, not your IT infrastructure professionals. People are hired into a IT management position, that are qualified as managers, directors, C-level, but lack the technical background to make informed IT decisions, which creates a nightmare for IT staff and the endusers.

Stop the handouts and quotas for agribusiness, handing out juicy federal contracts to companies that offshore their profits and have a per transaction stupidity tax on financial companies that don't put money away for a rainy day while they engage in highly complex, high risk financial transactions and expect the US taxpayer to bail them out. Then move on to screwing over the little guy.

LPI (LPIC1or 2 ) is a good one to have for Linux, for MS - MCTS for server and Win 7, a CCNA is good if you work in a Cisco shop or plan to, but don't get it just to have it. Download VirtualBox or VMWare ESXi so you can practice in a virtual environment, even after you get your certification, you will learn a lot more from problems you solve on your own, than prepping for exams. GNS3 is a good simulator for Cisco routers, not as good as the real thing, but its a start.

Stick with the entry level certs for now and don't waste your time on CompTIA certs.
