for some reason many drivers think the posted speed limit is always too low.

Because it generally is. Engineers have long pushed the 85th percentile rule, and design the roads for for a speed based on certain guidelines. Then councils ignore that and set much lower limits. The result is completely unchallenging roadways which cause drivers to either become bored and distracted.

However the crusade for sane speed limits is consistently ruined by the think of the childreners and their ilk.

I hadn't touched opera in years until today. I was testing a site im working on that does a bunch of ajaxy calls then plots data on a graph. In comparing the major browsers, I was blown away at how much faster opera was. Better than twice as fast as chrome and FF. Internet explorer took about 4 times as long as chrome/ff.
