I've backed several games. Other than voting for optional add-ons the Kickstarter isn't designing, they're putting money down on ideas they like.

So the designers, instead of convincing a publisher, they convince the customer directly. So instead of designing games with features the publisher likes, they're making games customers will prepay to buy.

Movie studios are driven by accountants who clearly failed to understand the MCU. They skipped all the setup and went for the payday. It flopped. Another (probably shitty) version isn't going to help. They have to go back and build up individual characters we like, then go ensemble.

It's the three different banks at once raises the suspicion level. The disgruntled IT employee/contractor story is plausible for one bank, but three at once?

That this currently appears to just be done to scare people also makes it less likely that criminal orgs were to blame. Although it's possible that this is a distraction to keep eyes off the real crime.

Sure, you're just picking a master in the tech world, but they aren't all equal, and in my view there are two camps. Those are makers and advertisers.

Google and Facebook are advertisers. They make the majority of their money selling ads. All of their products are just ways to collect data for targeting ads, or providing places to display those ads. Apple and Microsoft are makers. They make the majority of their money selling goods and services.

Advertisers don't care about you, because you aren't the real customer.

Makers care a little because you are the customer.
