China is not the only source of cheap labor. It's time to start building fucking factories somewhere else. China thinks they can be the bully because everybody put their eggs in the Chinese basket. It is time to find other baskets. That sword swings both ways. They are more dependent on us buying the crap they make. If their manufacturing where to drop by 50% more chaos would ensue over there.

Apple is looking at Vietnam. I don't know how viable that is or what percentage of their manufacturing will be done there, but putting all your manufacturing eggs in one basket isn't a good idea.

From the FS: "Mr. Trump has defiantly denied saying anything inappropriate on the call, but the transcript shows he clearly referred by name to former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr., a leading 2020 Democratic presidential candidate, and encouraged Mr. Zelensky to reach out to Mr. Barr. "

Zelensky was the one who first brought up Biden's pressure during the Burisma investigation. What would you do if someone brought up a possible crime, nothing? Trump did nothing illegal. In fact he did what what anyone should do. The summary makes it look like referring to Biden was unsolicited.

Sadly, thieves seem to be multiplying these days. When possible I have Amazon deliver stuff to my PO Box or an Amazon Locker. It has worked pretty well.

For a laugh, search YouTube for fake packages disgusted homeowners left outside their door for thieves to steal. Some packages disperse fowl smelling liquid into the thieve's cars; others make rattlesnake noises; others have GPS trackers to catch them.

I agree it was a stupid solution, but for a government agency to put panels on rooftops and parking lots, they would have to be government owned ones. That can be done, but it's not like there are millions of hectares of them.

Public roads probably have a lot more total area than buildings, so that part of the idea might have had some initial appeal before figuring the maintenance costs out. Too many government decisions are long on emotional appeal and short on practicality.

Submission + - Should Apple invest in Tesla? (futurism.com)

Archimboldo writes: Futurism has an article on how Apple has lots of cash but stagnating innovation, and Tesla has little cash but lots of innovation. It goes so far as to suggest that Apple make Elon Musk CEO. While that is extremely unlikely, it is likely that the ROI on an investment in Tesla would be much better than existing investments.
