Modern "Star Trek" is not Star Trek. It may have the words "Star Trek" in its name but it's not Star Trek as we old-school fans see Star Trek.
I have no problems with diversity, but it has to be written well into the story line, unfortunately... That's not what we have in modern trek; instead, we have it beaten over our head to the point that it becomes more about pushing "the message" than delivering a good, well-written, story.
That's what all of us old-school fans want, we want good stories. Unfortunately, these "writers" for modern Trek couldn't write themselves out of a wet paper bag. They're talentless hacks.
I have no doubt that if we were to take the original writing team behind The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and yes, even Voyager, and put them in charge of Star Trek: Picard and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and didn't change anything but the writing team, we would have a much better show that old-school Star Trek fans would find nothing to complain about. Again, we just want good stories. Is that really so damn hard these days? Apparently, yes.
