try supplying the option of your package manager to ignore the dependancies and everything shall be fixed.

As for the article - I also got rid of pulseaudio, although it kinda worked for me. I just wanted to be sure, that no re-sampling/mixing/sw volume adjustment took place. All this processing distorts the stream, and the quality you get is lower than with the old "single-app-blocks-sound-card" OSS. When I play a movie or music I do NOT want any other sounds mixed in.
The only use-case when I need mixing is when I play some music as a background and I want to hear my IM notifications. So, it will be best if I can switch easily (automatically?) between the two modes. Pulseaudio does not have this ability, that's why it is gone. I may try OSSv4 though...

P.S. To windows fans - in windows it is even harder to guarantee undistorted output - the directsound driver will resample and mix everything.

And, someone told me recently, blackjack IS dropped in many of the casinos. The ones that still offer the game do it as a favor to their clients. The casino managers know they may lose in blackjack, so there is a limit on the bets. Thus the loss is miserable compared to the win of the other games.

Actually you CAN win, and people DO win by gambling. So the average gambler is not fooling himself. If you think you WILL DEFINITELY WIN you are fooling yourself. So, knowing they may win, people gamble because they like the feeling of suspension. Of course, the other factors mentioned also contribute to the full casinos. As for the question in the article - i have worked for some time as a developer in the gambling industry. No one ever had mentioned it could be a black mark in my resume. And I have talked to some HRs and managers of other IT companies.

And for the "suicidal" mission: Why would somebody want to stay here and breathe its last breath on this shithole, called Earth? Some people want to get away from here, and as fast as possible. There are people out there that have different philosophical views than you.

Sometimes lane splitting is done not by motorcycles but by cars. And, besides not being legal, this is tolerated by the cops and the drivers. Example - a 3-lane road becomes a 4-lane when congested, because when the cars move slowly they can safely be very close to one another. This often happens where I live, in Bulgaria.

I think it is the contrary. A sound with a limited dynamic range fatigues the ears less. I can listen to FM/AM radio all day and I do not feel fatigued by the sound. But, when I play some music on my hi-fi setup (it is a really good system) I get tired after an album or so (same volume as the radio). It is really good experience to listen to high-quality sound, but it is tiresome.
