The reason why universities teach fortran still is because it is very simple to learn. My roommates were taught it and they had trouble with the language. I couldn't imagine trying to teach them a more complex language. The most important thing about learning your first language is not the actual syntax, it is learning how to think.

I for one have used Spotify in the past. I no longer use it because every couple weeks I had to hunt down a British proxy in order to log in--Spotify isn't available in the US yet, hence the proxy. However for the two months I did use it, I loved it. The music library is a decent size, the playlists work well, and it even has the ability to have collaborative playlists. The creator of uTorrent, Ludvig Strigeus, is involved with Spotify. Granted, Spotify did not stop me from downloading music due to needing to put music on my iPod, I did download a lot less during those months. Spotify allowed me to listen to complete albums without needing to download first. This resulted in me only downloading the albums I really wanted on my iPod. Also, probably the most convienant part of Spotify was that I was able to set my laptop out at parties and people could add almost whatever song they could think of onto the playlist.

Spotify will not replace downloading, but I do believe that it will significantly reduce it.

How would they know if you downloaded an item illegally? If they knew someone downloaded movies, then why wouldn't the FBI already be on their front step because of those FBI warnings? To me this seems about as practical as the war on drugs.

I don't understand how the microhone operates. They show the device located directly in front of the tv, a spot where many people place their center speaker in a 5.1 set up. The game will have to completely mute the center channel in order for the microphone to work, thus making the game 2.1 (or 2.1 x2).

No, their customer service is still just as bad. Also, their website doesn't take orders all the time. I ordered a gift for christmas (Logitech Harmony remote) and it never got billed to my credit card. By the time I realized this, the price went up 20 dollars and their customer support wouldn't give me the old price. Newegg for life.

The only reason I would want to run MS Office in linux is for MS OneNote. Believe it or not this is actually a great piece of software for students and there is no FOSS alternative that comes close. The closest competitor is Evernote which doesn't run natively on linux either.

I was expecting to see the vast majority of people with 10+. I'm amazed at how many tech-savy people must use public trackers. No wonder some people don't really like bittorrent, they aren't getting downloads from people with seedboxes.

He could also be running linux. The linux flash player is horrible. My Athlon XP 2800+ goes to 100% when viewing flash content. I don't know where it stood in windows, but that is only because it was never an issue.

Why would they even consider not extraditing him? If I knew that I would get extended prison time for a felony, I too would be considering suicide.
