The only people that will miss it are the Slashdotters on this thread that likely don't own an Apple product in the first place. They also dropped the serial port, the VGA port and the floppy drive.

The users can see the garbage that is permitted and even encouraged on the site, FB/Meta obviously can too. Do nothing and people stop using your service. I wish they had a way to verify that users are actual people and give me an option to turn on "verified users only". On Slashdot I ignore "Anonymous" and you get a much better experience. I don't agree with everyone, but at least it's a real person being a dumbass and I can live with that.

I don't know if the rule changed, but earlier IPOs required you to have a certain net worth to participate in the IPO. Essentially, the rich get richer and everyone else is locked out. State lotteries have been profiting off the poor for a long time. They control the returns and essentially guarantee that you will lose ~50% of what you bet with the slimmest chance to get a huge win. Then if you do win, they'll take a large portion of that back in taxes. Given the choice of scratch offs, televangelists and the odds of winning the Mega Millions, I'm perfectly fine with people putting money into crypto. At least they're doing some good in laundering money for others.

At least half of the ads you see are obviously bogus, so the other half seem suspect by default and you won't touch them. Then the comment section.... there is obviously a coordinated campaign to keep Usians arguing about everything complete with "Laugh bots" that just go through and laugh at everything in the comments. That pisses off people and the arguing continues.

Anyone remember the candle factory where a few dozen died? They apparently were permitted to have phones because there are quotes about relatives calling family members and seeing that their loved one's phone's location was still at the factory. But, since it's Amazon, it's easier to be outraged.

Seems like it would be a better weapon than putting various cargos in orbit. Air Launch to Orbit seems like a better approach, but the reality is that you have a very small reduction in what is necessary for the first stage that you really can't make a plane big enough to do anything practical. I think SpaceX has the right approach with reusable rockets. Launch them from locations at a higher elevation, closer to the equator and you get even more of an advantage. Maybe we can do a space winch instead of a real space elevator.

Yeah, maybe I have my configuration set differently than everyone, but I'm really not seeing the outrage. In fact, until I saw this article I don't think I noticed any difference. Yes, the tabs at the bottom of the page in iOS is kinda dumb, but that was easily swapped back.
