Plus this is a Laptop, and a Dell for that matter.. Slow ram, Slow harddrive. Run VMware well, SC2 stutter, hell AOE III stutter.

As has to be pointed out over and over again until it gets through the thick skulls of people like you "unlimited" meant that you have unlimited data restricted by rate. I was offered 15mbs, that is 15 mega bits per second unlimited I asked if I would use my connection 24/7, which is different that just have access to your system 24/7 under any contract. . X seconds in a in an hour (3600) time hours in a day (24) times days in a year (356) = 461,376,000 Mb a year / 8 for MB = 57,672,000MB / 12 to get monthly limit = 4,806,000 MB / 1,048,576 to get TB = 4.5TB month time arguments come from people have no real clue, AOL and other used to charge us by the hour of connection. Users took up time on a single modem port blocking other users, and @ 28.8Kbs (later 56.6Kbs max unachievable by FCC rules) limited how much data someone could download in the time alloted. Then people started offering unlimited, but did not worry about caps because you were limited by modem speeds. This was the start of rated unlimited access with no caps. When broad band, my first was Road Runner, we had unlimited at a rate, as how much data could you possibility download, there was not much out there, plus they were competing with AOL. Today they keep the same type of contracts but complain because the ISP's never upgraded their back ends and now have problems providing what they offer. If we had true competition in Broad band internet we would not see this, it would be like the old AOL fight. We can do a car analogy, you have unlimited highway rights limited by rate. You can drive on the highway all you want, as long as you restrict yourself to posted speed limit.

(source Christian Science Monitor) your right, its not about the truth its about perception, but perception can be changed by telling the truth.. the people in Afghanistan would back up the US and NATO overwhelmingly if they did not truly believe that we are going to leave them, and the same old regimens of corruption were going to take back over. They just want to be on the wining side when we leave. Talking to people there, it clear that they know we don't want their country and they do not believe we are willing to stay no matter the cost and life will return to as it was before we got there.

You will most likely need a few signal combiners, and few boxes as source and a distribution switch. you will need one box per channel you want to broadcast to your tvs. of course you can time share, example from 1pm - 4pm channel 3 is cnn and the rest of the time is another channel. but this will require planing and probably cost more up front than just using a box at each TV, but in the long run you would be able to handle changes better than you do now with what I assume you are just amplifying and routing the raw cable to each TV. something like this http://www.campuscablesystems.com/system.php

Empathy Is For the Birds 201

grrlscientist writes "Common Ravens have been shown to express empathy towards a 'friend' or relative when they are distressed after an aggressive conflict — just like humans and chimpanzees do. But birds are very distant evolutionary relatives of Great Apes, so what does this similarity imply about the evolution of behavior?"

Geologists Might Be Charged For Not Predicting Quake 375

mmmscience writes "In 2009, a series of small earthquakes shook the region of L'Aquila, Italy. Seismologists investigated the tremors, but concluded that there was no direct indication of a big quake on the horizon. Less than a month later, a magnitude 6.3 earthquake killed more than 300 people. Now, the chief prosecutor of L'Aquila is looking to charge the scientists with gross negligent manslaughter for not predicting the quake."

Snails On Methamphetamine 93

sciencehabit writes "Science answers the question: What happens when you put a snail on speed? From the article: 'The results suggest that meth improves memory, something that has been previously observed in creatures with large, complex brains like rats and humans. But since the snails store their memories in a simple, three-neuron network, the team hopes that studying the meth effect in these gastropods will help pinpoint how the drug's memory magnification powers work.'"

I was having this conversation just yesterday. ABC was able to release a IPad app that played the same video they have on Hulu.. the Advertising looks the same.. it looks like they just made hulu play a different format for the IPad. This also brings up a point, why has Adobe not made a player for flash like Apple did with YouTube? it may launch the video in its own player. This would not help for Flash games or it may work the same.. I don't know I do know that Adobe would get more support from me if they created a real app and was denied than just crying about how Apple did not let them. and for Hulu, they have proven to me that they are not really interested in going outside of what they already offer, so its no real surprise that they have not made an app or worked on making the site more compatible with other devices. for me it matters little as Comcast is either filtering and giving less bandwidth to Hulu to make everything I watch pause 3 or 4 times during a show, and Verizon DSL.. Forget it .. not worth the bother if its not the internet than I would go with Hulu can not keep up with streaming video.. but people on FIOS do not have the same issues. so I am sticking with its the fault of the internet provider. I am of the opinion, That content providers talk about streaming media, but still do not see the market.

Any one who has done Government contracting would be able to let you know that no bid contracts by them selves is not a bad thing. Contracts are regulated by the amount of profit a company can make and what fees can be charged.
