Put your Minecraft fanboyism aside, Mojang isn't even at 100m USD in revenue yet. The guy himself may be 'hideously rich' but the company isn't some juggernaut.

They definitely have over 100 million in revenue now. Minecraft has built 80 million in sales since March

The XBox 360 version came out in May, and has sold over 3 million units. The Xbox 360 version costs $20 USD (1600 MS Points). Simple arithmetic gives me $60 million in XBLA sales. Mojang gets at least 1/3rd of that, which is enough too push them over the $100 million mark.

Yeah, I wouldn't say 'hideously rich'. While Mojang's revenue is relatively high, their EBITDA is relatively low. I believe they are making a much higher margin on their pocket editions and XBox 360 version (linked article is before these) so that's good. If it was just Notch still working on these then I'd agree but he's got a fair-sized business running now with all the associated costs. Not to say he's poor, I think he's just in the 'extremely comfortable' zone right now.

As a social liberal, I accept that there may sometimes be a need to take from my pocket for the betterment of society as a whole. You volunteer as a career which I'll assume is to do 'good' (not volunteering in an African death squad or something). At least in this case I know someone is getting something out of my taxes, which sometimes I'm not so sure.

Keep this in mind: if you are American, I also pay taxes to protect your interest abroad. If you ever get abducted by pirates or the like, I don't mind paying Navy Seals or Delta Force or some other group to save you.

In essence, I don't mind walking into the warp core without a radiation suit to save the ship. Needs of the many and whatnot.

Also, I love it when he gets blamed for the bank bailout. That happened a month or two before the election and was, for the most part, the final straw for McCain and many other Republican candidates.

* Taking away your guns (actually, the only gun-related legislation he passed made it legal to carry guns in national parks)

This was a bigger worry when the Democrats controlled the House and Senate. Pelosi is a left-wing nutcase who would've done it if given the chance but they targetted healthcare instead. Also, there are major import regulations that have caused spikes in prices due to decreased supply, this is due to the Feds.

You missed one though. He gets blamed for not getting out of Iraq and Afghanistan 'like he said he would'. Iraq, yes, he said he was going to get us out as quickly as possible but never promised a timeline (Hillary Clinton was promising 6-12 months) . However, Afghanistan was a target of his to ramp up, commonly saying in debates that Iraq was a distraction and not the real threat of terrorism (at the time of invasion).
