Show me again where Amtrak is making me money. I somehow missed that headline. 7:1 .... where is all the money ... I want 7:1 return on every dime we have put into Amtrak. And heck .. if this was such a great money maker everyone would be doing it. But they are not. Even cities with huge public transport systems (LA for instance) ... sell off their public transport assets and ;lease them back. If they where making 7:1 returns there is no way they would have to do such foolish things.

I don't think they would .. I think they would revolt. As soon as someone figures out they are getting hosed even worse by the gasoline companies by being forced to purchase the get less for more liter .... and as soon as no one could figure out how far anything was anymore because of some fool calling it a meter instead of a mile ... people would go nuts and demand a return to normal measure. And don't even get me started on the lunacy of C vs F ... nope ... Leave it all imperial until after I'm dead thank you very much.

The wife and I both re-read the entire Wheel of Time series every time there is a new book published. And Yes, the collection of books in the house has actually grown past the space we have to store them all. But that's ok ... we are getting some new shelves soon. LOL

I can see some appeal to e books. But for me ... someone who /still/ prefers a printed version of whatever media I'm looking at the appeal of another dead battery housing is pretty much null. After all ... I already have flashlights and cell phones for storing dead batteries. Do I really need something else for that?

When did it stop being free speech?

Seems to me the school needs a huge helping of common sense fed to them. "Out of the mouths of babes" ... maybe there should be laws to prosecute kids for what they say .. NOT.

While I applaud the new charges I am dismayed that they opted not to have him executed. If we get lucky we can expect that someone inside the prison will execute him for us after a long and thorough introduction to PMITA prison life. Pfft ... justice is strange though. He deserves a painful existence with a swift but equally painful execution but will likely be put up in some supermax solitary confinement, safe, sound and forgotten.

Hopefully they can get a hold of the wikleakers and have them charged too.

Privacy IS a concern. Most of the time it's no one else's bizz what I am doing on my comp. I had to work on an apple comp that was always trying to talk to me. I hated that "feature." So did my co workers.

Heck, I have two children and a wife that talk back. If my comp starts to talk back to me I will smash it with a hammer and then burn it.

Banning firearms, IMO, is the biggest loss of civil liberty in Australia.

Add to that this insulting idea that you can't have a drink without giving up your identity to an establishment that really has NO RIGHT to have or keep makes it plain that there are some serious problems in that county. I've always wanted to visit it. Have many friends who live there. But if the price of a cocktail is your identity, even your fingerprints? Come on ... why in the world would anyone put up with that?
