I will concede that film and processing is getting expensive. So you have to be smart and find ways of keeping costs down:

Where are you that film costs that much? Even here in Australia it's only that bad if you make some really bad choices.
My Pentacon Six is from East Germany, so that poll option almost seems appropriate. But my Ricoh SLR's and Yashica Electro 35 are nice little cameras. And the batteries in them last years!

They have pinyin. As well as being a romanisation of Madarin Chinese, it's also used to teach children pronunciation of Chinese characters and as a computer input method.
