Submission + - Nearby solar system with five planets found (badastronomy.com)

The Bad Astronomer writes: "Astronomers just announced that the star 55 Cancri (a sunlike star only 41 light years away) sports a solar system a lot like ours. The star been known to have planets for some time, but a fifth planet was just found about 116 million km from the star, putting it it in the star's habitable zone. The planet is a gas giant, but if it has big moons... well. The star's proximity to us implies that more solar systems like ours are waiting to be found in the galaxy, if we just keep looking for them. Incidentally, 55 Cancri is a (just barely) naked eye star in the constellation of Cancer, easily found in binoculars."
